try travelling italy at breakneck speed on business with trenitalia catering. Worse than the old BR, and also, italy shuts at 10pm, so most places I eat are cafs.

Love italian food, but locally, its not very diverse. Sure if you travel North to south you will see a huge variety, but stay in tuscany for too long and you run the risk of turning into paninni too.

Sorry - Back to sema.

I started this thread as it was pretty poor, but can't wait to see how the refurb goes, and I hope to be the first to congratulate them.

I had a quiet chat with the owner when we went there and it appears his wife is the chef, so lets hope he got a divorce too.

(Joking!!)

Mopped up chin and back for more. What about a Chianchiana steak. I went to an agricultural show last year and met the beasts who originally owned these steaks. They are pure white and stand about seven feet tall. Theyre only reared in Tuscany and only exported to Texas. The best steak I have ever eaten. Here I go again, more kitchen roll.

    • So it's for tourists and others actually staying in Southwark? So a person living and working  in England but staying in a hotel in  Southwark for work purposes (say) would have to pay this tax (or their employer would)? But a tourist from France (say),  staying in a hotel outside Southwark but visiting all the Southwark "tourist attractions" wouldn't?
    • Whilst I agree with you, Nigello, your first paragraph doesn't make it clear that you are quoting Beansprout?
    • John Marx fitted a Howdens Kitchen for me in April this year. He and his partner Gabi provided great support and service throughout the refit. They are a pleasure to work with and they made the whole process as smooth as possible.  John is trustworthy and reliable and takes great pride in his work. He is also an excellent problem solver - nothing fazes him.  He was also happy to come back for any snagging issues once the work was completed.  I am delighted with my new kitchen and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.  His email is [email protected]
