Unfortunately Blackheath, despite being free, surreptitiously charged attendees travelling by train by blocking oyster gates at the station and charging max fare.

Lines of police/security were insisting minimum fare would be charged but on checking max fare was charged on both outward and home journey.

I called TFL for a refund today and they seemed to think it was OK to expect people to have to ring for a refund despite being told that they wouldn't be charged on the night. Rant over.

That's odd.

Surely the people running the fireworks are not TFL, so how could they make money by charging the wrong fare?

Sounds like lack of communication somewhere along the line to me :(

I went to Brockwell park for the first time. I didn't mind paying and at 7pm we got in quickly. The delay for the start was a bit if a pain but it didn't really matter. We did make a big mistake by standing in the wrong place. We couldn't see the Catherine wheel or bird at all and we weren't too far from the front, but we were to the side. Everyone on our side was wandering if there'd been an error, as to us nothing at all happened until the third song (I think) which was when the fireworks themselves started. The fireworks were great but I completely missed the smiley faces for the happy song - probably because we had a side view! My advice to anyone next year is don't stand at the side.

Sorry Sue, probably unclear in my wording. I don't begrudge the fireworks organisers really just felt a bit skadoodled out of my hard earned by TfL - sadly put a dampener on an otherwise lovely (and dry) evening.

    • Ohh dear.  Fireworks can be great fun.  Where I used to live the kids would have firework wars/games.  Watching them was more enjoyable than watching  TV. (Which you could hardly hear due to the pops and bangs).  It's not like anyone/anything could stop them. I would still prefer organised public displays that are affordable.   And I agree that fireworks cause problems for wild life, pets and people.   It seems to be one of those things that just happens so we have to put up with it.  But it is still not as problematic here as in other areas in London - that's for sure.
    • I made sure to set off a few today just to rile you guys up 😇😂 Always looking for something to criticise
    • Ugly...maybe..does it bother me..NO! I think its somehow reassuring to see theres still phoneboxes around. East Dulwich may  be getrified but there may well be some elderly people who don't have mobiles and kids who may have lost theirs adults ditto etc etc. I'd rather keep it than lose it...just because i don't use it does'nt mean its not needed.  there are many eyesores in the modern world not all of them as potentially useful.
    • I strongly recommend Balayage salon in Lordship lane as everytime I visit, they make me feel very spicial with thier profisionalism and care.   I have been going there for the last 10 years maybe more, and will never exchange them for any other. They are profisional, welcoming and they also always have an offer. I feel like a new woman every time. X
