Great to meet some of our prospective 2015 Belham parents yesterday at the Hamlet.

Applications are now being accepted for Reception (60 places) and Year 1 (30 places). In our first year we're managing our own admissions using our own application forms, so the sooner you send your application in the sooner we can get your address measured, and the sooner we'll be able to notify you of the outcome following the deadline for receipt, Thursday 15 January 2015.

For those of you who may think you live too far away from the school, please do still apply - in our first year distances could be larger than you may think, and with no older children in the school the sibling policy will not be applicable to Reception places. There is nothing to lose in applying as the process is separate from Southwark Council's central admissions - you have six choices on your Southwark application, not including the Belham which should not be named as one of those choices.

New to the area or sending your child to a school far from home? We are offering 30 Year 1 places for those children who started school this September. Again, there is nothing to lose in applying so don't let distance put you off!

If you have any questions about admissions or for further information about the school please contact us at [email protected]

Application forms are available to download from our website www.thebelhamprimaryschool.org.uk, or email us at the above address if you'd like us to post you a form.

    • He lived in my road, so I bumped into him quite often, but I knew him as Mick, not Mike. We originally met at the opening of The Actress. Crikey, how long ago that seems now. He had a fox in his window 🤣 Not a real one, obviously. I only found out that he had died because I hadn't seen him around for a while,  so I mentioned it  on our road WhatsApp group, and someone on there told me. He had been ill for some time, but he was just in the middle of what must have been extremely expensive private  dental treatment (a lot of implants) so I assume his death was sadly unexpected.
    • Not in the same position but are you able to access the physical meter to take your own readings ? You could do this as frequently as you wanted to. I think TW are rolling out smart meters that don’t need to be physically read by them, and perhaps that’s what you have. I think that TW will only change your monthly direct debit once every 6 months, when you get the official statement.
    • Has anyone else had a water meter fitted in the last couple of years but is not being billed on the actual consumption as measured by the meter. I ask because after our meter was fitted 18 months ago, we could see the actual meter readings on our online account. This was helpful in terms of monitoring the consumption down to a day to day basis. However after about 6 months, the meter readings were no longer published online. I recall earlier advice from TW that  we would have a 12 month "trial" period after which we could opt to switch to metered consumption or stay on the rate based on the rateable value of our house.  As there's only two of us in the house, I reckon our actual consumption is well below the RV based consumption rate so with a bit of cynicism I reckon TW has deliberately discontinued publishing the meter reading.  Had the readings continued to be published, then we could have made an informed decision on whether or not to move to metered billing. Is anyone else in a similar position?
    • DR Yes he had not been very well for about the last 2 or 3 years but was making some progress, we use to see him down LL getting his shopping and stop and catch up on all matters Ed. I Pm'd just before Christmas and received no reply which was not like him so I did have concerns about his health but I had no other means of contacting him. R.i.P Foxy Bob S
