Hi all,

We are thinking about a bit of winter sun in Feb now the weather has turned gloomy.

For the past two years we have been to Playa Blanca in Lanzerote which we really enjoyed but next year we are looking to venture to a new island.

I am looking for location suggestions. We have a 2yo and 4yo and so looking for a low key resort, nice beach, few places to eat, some nearby day trips etc

We would prefer to rent a villa so don't need suggestions of specific accomodation just areas to go to (unless you can recommend a villa!)

Thanks in advance.

We stayed in Fuerteventura near Corralejo which is a small and very sweet resort. Was before kids but imagine it would have all you need for winter sun break, it is a windy island which I appreciated at the time as was very pregnant! Island was lovely would definitely go back and would stay in same accommodation if we could as it was super reasonable and clean / well-equipped. Might not suit you though as it was ten mins drive to beach:

We had a lovely holiday this summer in Puerto de Mogan in Gran Canaria. It is a pretty fishing town with a nice beach. We have 2 boys who are older than your children but there were loads of younger children there too.

We stayed self catering in these apartments:

They have a number of pools and were in the process of building a new one which would be ready by now i think.

Booked through Thomas Cook but we did not use them for any of the excursion type stuff.

Feel free to PM me if you have questions.

We really liked the playa flamingo part of playa blanca on Lanzerote. Playa Flamingo is a lovely quiet beach with a board walk with lots of little restaurants. We stayed in a James Villa's villa, can't remember it's name sorry. The Playo Flamingo resort (thomas cook I think) looked nice too, just behind the beach. Lots of easy outings from there, make sure you get up to wineries!!

If anyone is looking for a villa in lanzarote my mum has 2 she rents out. We go there every year, the house is great if you have kids as it's very much a home from home. It has sky to, Internet and she can supply high chairs, travel cots etc

    • But we’re not in Canada so why celebrate their recent election? Wasn’t their winner our Bank of England director up until his defection to his homeland of Canada? He caused chaos  in this country with his put down of everything British and his many dismal words about the effects of Brexit on this country.
    • I expect that they consider it should be a free choice what to do with your waste, and that segregating it is a waste of money, no doubt it's all a woke conspiracy.  I expect that others are more up to speed with Reform policies. I should have asked Nigel when I was drinking with him.  Well within the vicinity of him in Westminster pubs a couple of times.
    • Let's see how a Leader and party that thrive on division and demonising elements of our society actually do when they have to deliver. Let's hope that the two main parties don't consider that the best way to fight Reform is to become like then. Even less reason to visit the small town where I grew up.  Not a cause for any joy or celebration. Happy to celebrate the Canadian result.
    • The Reform Party has surely taken the Conservatives and Labour by surprise? I’ve been a Conservative voter since the age of 18 and voted for them in the General Election last Summer. Sadly Labour were elected but their policies on so many issues have been their downfall as they did not stick to them.
