Hi all,

I would love to hear any recommendations for building firms - I am looking for a well-established, design-led company who can help with every aspect of a fairly large house conversion..initially looking to design/build a Victorian loft conversion and side return kitchen extension - 4 bed Victorian semi-detached house nr Peckham Rye.

Serious contenders please.

SE Design - call Keith on 07931 574096.

He was competitive and did a great job on our side return extension. His real were sensitive to our neighbours and to us expecting our first child. He's done two more on our road with positive results. He's also local which to us was a bonus.

In addition to Keith we had a fantastic Architect who I would recommend to anybody. He was incredible and went way beyond his job description helping us with countless challenges. His name is David Snaith 07785 572431.

Hi,

Newline builders did an amazing job on my friend's house in Kennington (kitchen extension and loft conversion) - it was so good it was featured in Ideal Home mag (Mar 2014). I only wish we knew about them when we refurbed our Victorian house as we had endless problems with unreliable tradesmen!

    • Naaah, it's rubbish - it would be a change of use so would need planning. https://www.planningdirect.co.uk/planningappeals/affordable-planning-applications/change-of-use/commercial-to-takeaway-change-of-use There's not enough footfall for a McDonalds, anyway, and they're quite picky about their sites

I don't have the time or the inclination to do the research, but I'm pretty sure that I have read  that when people who had lived in a very run down area  were given  nice surroundings, they appreciated and looked after them.
