Anyone know about guitars?

And could you recommend me one for a 5 yr old? It's appeared on his (never ending) christmas list and actually I think might be quite fun to get him one - maybe not a 'toy' one but certainly not an expensive one?

You could get him a ukelele instead - much easier to master at his age (my 6.5 year old is quite good on hers).

We have a Makala Dolphin (in purple, it's all about the purple!). Seems to do the job, stays in tune pretty well.

I would also recommend a uke for a 5 year old. South London Music has a good selection. They also stock books to help. There is also lots of You Tube videos for children learning Ukelele.

Also most of the primaries now teach uke, so it's all round a better bet. The music shop near the station helped us a lot finding a good tutorial book. Also have a look at you tube - there's loads of tutorials on there as well as tuners etc.
