You can buy cheap wooden letters from amazon which u can do loads with such as draw around, trace fingers around the shape, hide in sand or around the room for treasure hunt, put in envelopes for a posting activity, line them up in order, make the childs name or other words, press into wet sand...the possibilities are endless.

However at 3 the focus should be on hearing the sounds rather than linking the sounds to letters. So just makng up silly sounds is a good start.

all Vtech toys are great, we have an alphabet game thing where you can press the letters to say the letter / play music / play games... lots on the market, I would search on the Toys R Us website that is pretty good.

We have a 4 yr old and he also likes the wipe clean books you can get - e.g. Topsy and Tim learn to write

Foam letters that go in the bath are great too - about ?3 from Sainsbury's :)

I'm trying to avoid Thomas! we are suddenly and heavily into peppa pig now though - sigh.

i went to the charity shop and they had a couple of the toys mentioned above so i bought them. can use the money saved to buy the letters and puzzles which appeal more to me to be honest! we already use so much technology it would be nice to be more basic...

    • Went to a fireworks display maybe 20 years ago at the Crystal Palace, it wasn't bonfire night, can't remember why it was being held, Capital Radio were there. There were people hanging from a crane, classical music, and quiet fireworks,  It was lovely, still dramatic with the colours but no loud bangs. Not sure why this hasn't become the norm.
    • Hi  After a surprising split I find myself trying to furnish a home. If you gave anything that you don't want that may help I'd be so so so grateful if you could let me know please.  Thank you so much
    • Hallo As far as I know  info you have quoted is wrong.  You can phone for an appointment although I have always found it easier to do online. Go to their website for info on how to book appointments Any requests I have made have been reviewed and answered by a GP within 4 hours
    • Nadia did a great job tidying up my very very overgrown yard. (See the before and after photos). I live in New Zealand and my tenants said a neighbour has been complaining about the out of control ivy. Nadia was easy to contact so over WhatsApp, managed to liaise between me and my tenants. Her quote was reasonable for the amount of work that needed doing, and the end result is great! She sent photos throughout so I could track progress. Would highly recommend her to others.
