I will look at what I have at home, but if anyone is looking for the original 2011/2012 consultation and meeting documents about burial strategy in Southwark and how we've ended up where we have - a lot of it is still online (just not easy to find). The ones I am aware of (and people should feel free to add stuff I've missed) are:

The April 2012 Southwark Council Cemeteries Strategy is here: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/downloads/download/3046/cemetery_strategies

The results of the 2011 consultation and the Southwark Council meeting that considered it are here - I would look at Apps A (which is the same doc as above), D which is the consultation report, G and particularly F which is about some specific discussion with residents on Ryedale and Forest Hill Road: http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgAi.aspx?ID=21262#mgDocuments

There were also some specific materials about the Phase 1 works on WoodVale/Langton Rise, which I'll look for at home.

For those that asked, here are the other Phase 1 docs that I had at home in hard copy (sorry, has to be in two separate posts due to the size of the scans). One question I had looking at this again is whether the "80 new trees" that were going to be planted as part of the Phase 1 works have been planted, and if so where? I wonder if they actually mean 80 new trees and shrubs?

Thanks for posting this Siduhe, i'll have a read soon...

I think it's important to scrutinise all the council documents as the devil is in the detail, for example the original feasibility study the council had done on this recommended around 300 burial plots in the wooded area. This has now risen to around 1000 in their current proposals.

Personally thats quite a hike and i'm keen to find out where this rise has come from...

Hi Renata. Thank you for your interest in the meeting. I first announced the meeting on this thread on January 13, but it is too late now to move the date. News from the meeting and announcements of any future meetings will be posted on our Facebook page, where people are also welcome to post their own views and comments: https:/www.facebook.com/fcocemetery

Edited to fix web link

Following from the meeting last week at the Rose, there is a petition now circulating to Save Southwark Woods, which already has 1000 signatures and counting. You can sign the petition here: https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/save-southwark-woods/

I've also posted the text of the petition under a new thread on the forum.

Please like the facebook page Save Southwark Woods if you'd like to follow the campaign.

    • I'm getting dozens of fliers a year from all the estate agents.  I'm not selling, thinking of selling or renting out. The one from John D Woods really got my goat as it is plastic coated so can't even be recycled.  I've emailed them.  They must be making so much money to to these mass mail outs.  I couldn't find the old thread about things that put you into an irrational rage (although this rage is not irrational) I have a nice time too watching GB win their first medal at the Winter Olympics - that is an understatement! I'll burn it, sod the tiny impact on air quality.
    • @PenguinYou will have to explain this to me bearing in mind your and others outrage at a possible new scheme on Ryedale, and the use by many on this forum of Southwark News to support their reaction. I don't know what precautionary mindset means.  The precautionary principle is that we need to act now for example in tackling climate change rather than wait twenty years for conclusive evidence (that was the situation in 2006 when Stern published his report) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stern_Review
    • Yes, and their sister (?) company Inigo has some interesting Not Modern properties as well! Interesting as in marvelling at people's very varied  tastes 🤣
    • Is it possible for someone to change the heading, because it is not clear that this "fatality" has not just happened. I'm not sure that the OP still posts on here. Admin?
