Peckham GPs - baby/ midwife experience?

Hello,

I am new to the area and have recently signed up to Queens Road GP based on reviews (and it's within my catchment area). I wanted to know if anyone has had any experiences good or bad with the surgery, especially with the midwife, or taken their babies there as I will be giving birth soon.

The ratings for the surgery seem great though I have to say it's a rough looking surgery and quite unwelcoming from the outside!

Thanks in advance.

ps. Any recommendations concerning paediatric care in other local surgeries would be greatly appreciated!

Hi M,

Do you mean the one at 12 Queens Road or Queens Road Partnership closer to New Cross? I ask as we moved whilst I was pregnant and had to leave my lovely Nunhead surgery and find a new one in Peckham. I did go to one health visitor appointment at 12 Queens Road but wasn't very impressed to be honest.I spoke to my GP at the Queens Road Partnership and I continued the rest of the health visitor appointments there.

I have found Queens Road Partnership an excellent surgery. We have had quite a few urgent medical issues with my daughter and have always managed to see someone very quickly. Even with our own doctor appointments we have managed to get booked in relatively quickly.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to PM if you have any other questions.

The nunhead surgery is excellent, I would be happy to recommend the midwife care provided there as well as the care for a babies from the health visitors who have an open clinic each week to easy access to GPs, have always got an appointment on the day for our little one without any problem.

Please PM if you would like more info.

I'm with Queens Rd Partnership - I moved out of the Nunhead Surgery practice and was really sad to leave as they are fab. However I've found Queens Rd Partnership great too. It's a bigger practice, and a bit more run down, but myself and my baby have had great care including referrals on to specialist clinics. The doctor who specialises in young babies (Dr Sayyah) is particularly great ime. I did see the midwife once but she will only see you if you are having your baby in Lewisham hospital or at home in Lewisham borough - I was already booked into Kings and had to travel there for appointments. If you are booked at St Thomas I think you can go to the Waldron Centre for appointments.

Hope this helps

    • Yes, I think that’s exactly it. I’m sorry my post was unclear.
    • FH is so much greener and IMO nicer than ED, sorry. Less commercialised.  The Great North Wood, Hornimans Gardens, Brenchley Gardens, One Tree Hill ) yep, some of that borders ED, so split between the two)
    • Tesco sell pudding rice https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/254877391   And as for olive oil, my preference is the Spanish 2L cans in Sainsbury, it has a real nice peppery taste, not bland like the Italian one's I've tasted, but that's personal preference I suppose.
    • It feels like a group who don't believe that private motoring should be discouraged and have no answers to the air quality problem, whereas the original Cleanairdulwich are campaigning to reduce pollution. Sadly we live in a world where if you are rich, you will generally live in nicer houses, have nicer environments and cleaner air.  That is capitalism for you, but I doubt whether there would be greater health equality in the former Soviet Union either.  Dulwich village was once full of industrialists and the like who didn't want to live in polluted central London where most would have made their money.  I will contact Cleanairdulwich and hopefully provide a better perspective.  Whether it is one individual or a whole community I support agree with what they are doing.
