Probably nothing but just in case and due to all posts regarding burglaries and attempted van theft I thought I would mention it. As I was getting into my car this morning it looked like a guy was casing out all houses on piermont road. He then got into a white van and sat there for a while. As I said it is probably nothing but be on your guard.

I have reported description of character and registration of van to police.

Local resident.

Had a guy with a white van knock on my door last week saying my gutters were FULL and really, really needed cleaning out, just ?25, they would cause damage if they weren't cleaned out, just 25 quid, and if only I took up his offer it would only be ?25... Still continued when I said that I had had the roof and gutters fixed a couple of weeks before...

How he can see how full my gutters were without going up there is beyond me. He must be a very clever man. Or a scam.

So maybe he was checking out all the gutters on Piermont Road...?

    • The frequency of fireworks seems to be increasing. If revellers selected the low noise variety that would help, but the trend seems to be the louder the better. I do not think sensitivity to stimuli is the same as timidity. Unexpected, extremely loud bangs and unusual noises will startle most of us. Humans, unlike other animals, have the luxury of knowing what fireworks are and what the noise represents. Some animals do learn to cope but many do not. It could be their hearing is not as sensitive. We should not forget that many animals, including cats and dogs have hearing that is much more developed than ours.
