My Fridge freezer is creating a lot of ice both in fridge and freezer dept. The freezer is not freezing properly. Does anyone know a good, reasonably priced engineer?

I've called Hotpoint and they want ?120 just to come out. I've found another place online and they charge ?80 for a diagnostic and then only for parts after that, seems reasonable but I'm concerned that they might 'find' things wrong with it other than the actual prob.....I've read online the prob may be a simple one but how would I know.

If anyone knows someone trustworthy I would appreciate it if you could let me know.

Thanks L

Hi

Just a note sometimes it could mean the seals are not sealing the fridge doors properly having this can cause over freezing. Or the other common problem is that the thermostat is gone.

I would actually check the seals of both the fridge and the freezer to ensure that they are clean and the points of contact with the door seal and the fridge/freezers are also clean. Make sure that there are no splits as well with the door seal.

I know this may or may not be the solution, but it might just work!

Regards

Mason

if the seals were good your would get condesation in the fridge, not ice. A useful test is to put a ?10 note between the door and seal (closed). If you can pull it out easliy (ie with no friction) it's a sign the door seals need replacing.

If the fridge it'self is icing up then it's likely to be something else imo. Could be wrong though.
