Long shot but hoping that someone will have been in a similar situation and can shred some light!

We are buying a property in another borough but haven't exchanged yet however my daughter will be starting school next year so I have applied for two local schools to where we are moving to. I filled in the new address and have everything crossed that by the time they look through the application and ask for a proof of address we will have moved already.

However as purchases can fall through I wanted a back up plan as in to also apply for local schools here just in case things don't go according to plan. But because I signed up with the 'new' address I think she will be turned down straight away for local schools in ED because its like we live in Wallington and are applying for schools in ED.

Not sure what to do. I am worried sick that my daughter will end up being sent to a school that I would have never chosen... sigh

TIA

When we moved we couldn't officially apply to the school of our choice in our new area until we had exchanged on the property we were buying. We then got an official letter from our solicitors to the school admissions team to say we'd exchanged. However, you can still apply for schools in ED as you still officially live here until the date of completion. Hope that helps. Moving is a stressful time when you have to factor in schools.

    • Well thanks for enriching the conversation.  Would you chuck Fah - rage in too for his tax avoidance on his property?   I expect it was lead story on Jeremy Vine too.  Doesn't make it a story, just a bit more of BBC tabloid style sensationalism.  There are numerous real news stories in the UK and across the world.  And now, apt for Halloween, you have summoned up the ghost of Louisa. So for the third time, will you now eat humble pie?
