I now have two kids doing swim school at the leisure centre, which means ?50 per month. It looks like they've got an offer on at the moment that if you pay up-front it works out at ?85ish per family (2 adults, 2 children) per month. I'd love to do more exercise and evening classes would be the best for me (don't fancy running round Peck Rye in the dark at the mo!), so I'm seriously considering signing up, just wondered if there were any other members here who recommended it or otherwise? is it easy to get into evening classes or do you have to book up miles in advance? are the classes actually any good (i'm really not into working out in the gym itself, much prefer classes)? what about the creche, how does that work out?

Any tips hugely appreciated!

Joined for the same reason and it works out ok. Classes are reasonably good and not too difficult to get into I usually (although I have not started going again this year), book a class immediately after i leave it and get home to a computer so about a week in advance. When I joined mid this year I tried out alot of the classes and picked what I wanted. Having said that some classes are harder to get and must be booked earlier.

Another thing to consider (which i struggled with) is time spent with my partner it eneded up that he gets in and i leave for a class, then he decided to go to the gym as we now had family membership and started another scheduling problem, other than that the teachers are fantatic, some more than others depending on what you fancy.

I found the Creche expensive as (I think) its not free for members. Its ?11, I think. And last time I asked they told me you could nott book it online meaning there are chances you could book a class turn up and find the creche is not available, but do confirm as one thing I find is you tend to get contradicting messages depending on whom you talk to.

    • You can get a card at the till, though, to get the discount. You don't have to carry it with you (or load it onto your phone), you can just get a different card each time. Not sure what happens if they notice 🤣
    • Yes..that may be the case but membership STARTING at £115 a month is still unafforable for many. Council gyms also have a large range of equipment and I had a  PT at Dulwich leisure centre when I was in Full Time employment who was incredible and even kept in contact during lockdown giving me a program I could do at home and checking in weekly at no charge or personal gain for herself. I dont doubt that Fit For may be a good gym (Its been in situ long enough so must be doing something right) However the cost of membership means it is affordable for the few not the many. If I could afford that kind of fee I would rather get a train to Canary Wharf and go to Virgin active where theres a pool and incredible classes and facilities
    • This sounds great 👍
    • We found a red TREK bike yesterday that had clearly been stolen and dumped. Would love to reunite it with its owner. Get in touch if you know whose it is.
