Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a hypnobirthing practitioner for the second time around? I did a course before my first, but the lady who ran the course has since moved away from London.

I had a bad experience the first time around - labour was going beautifully up until the point where I entered an actual labour room and had a rubbish midwife, and from there it all then went wrong. So really all I'm after is a bit of reassurance that it'll be better this time around, and to get a refresher on techniques, rather than doing the course all over again.

Many thanks in advance!

Hi Mooncake,

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I think we used the same hypnobirthing practitioner first time around. I'm due my second any day now and did a few refresher sessions with Christine Neillands her details are on her website http://www.bouncebackhypnosis.com

She's absolutely lovely and would highly recommend her. She provides you with new hypnobirthing recordings to listen to at home, which I've been listening to daily.

Good luck with your birth this time around.

I used a hypnobirthing apo which I found helpful on the day, didn't do the classes (or read the books) but found the mum's stories in Ina May's book a big help plus you tube videos!

It was this one.

Definitely call Christine, she is absolutely amazing. I had a traumatic first birth, problematic second and majority of my third pregnancy was spent at risk of losing the baby. Christine helped me enormously - she helped me stay calm during the pregnancy and the birth. I listened to her tapes thoroughout induced labour and stuck my earphones in whenever it got stressful those first few days in hospital. I then visited her for months afterwards. Friends have seen her since and they all sing her praises. Good luck!

or Holly who is a local Mum and runs her extremely popular classes here in East Dulwich. She can be found on this forum by searching londonhypnobirthing, and is a delight. I would highly recommend her. She has helped many, many local women have better, more relaxed labours and births (the plus side is that if you do a group session with her you will get to meet other local Mums in her classes).

Additionally I was reading research recently that suggests Hypnobirthing can reduce the risks of suffering postnatal depression in Mums who are at risk (previous incidence, family or personal history of depression etc.etc.). The more I read about it the more useful a tool for birthing women Hypnobirthing seems. :D

    • No denying that Labour's first year or so has disappointed those of us who wanted major change.  But this demonising of the man is just ridiculous.  There have been some good things, but drowned out by this insentient right wing driven media hatred.  The same right wing media that loves Johnson and FaaReg (I think I've at last hit on getting the pronounciation right). A good example today - John Crace reports: That done [reference to Trump] , Starmer could move on. Britain had offered its full support to the peace process. Had worked tirelessly behind the scenes, with no need of recognition. Because it was our job. Recognising a Palestinian state had allowed other Arab nations to condemn Hamas. And we knew a thing or two about decommissioning weapons from the Good Friday agreement. But it was going to be a long haul. (maybe a rosy look, but nice to see something positive) A positive view on our position in the world and a player on the peace deal (albeit too late for many in Gaza) Here's GB news: Suella Braverman says she is 'ashamed to be British' after Keir Starmer’s 'humiliation on world stage' HTF can Braverman lecture anyone? Mail: Will Keir Starmer EVER recover from his viral humiliation by Trump in front of world? PM's efforts to bask in Gaza peace deal spectacularly backfire And slightly earlier in the Times: Starmer ‘duped voters’ and five more claims in explosive new book.  In this case the left sharpening their knives - perhaps they could go back to Corbyn's time as Labour leader.
    • This is one of the most stupid arguments used by all the far-right war criminal supporters to justify the unjustifiable. I can only advise you to study what defines a genocide, maybe you’ll learn a thing or two. Perhaps, you should also read about the great (Jewish) scholars Omer Bartov and Amos Goldberg who both (among others prominent intellectuals) concluded that Israel was committing a genocide. At least, they can’t be accused of antisemitism, I suppose.
