Has anyone used shower panels instead of tiling?

For a cheaper alternative, has anyone used these and would you recommend them?

I am about to arrange for elderly parents bath to be removed and shower fitted- this seems like a better fix than retiling 2 walls completely.

I guess you need to make sure they're sturdy with not too much 'give' because being elderly and in the shower the last thing needed is the feeling the panel is going give way when it's leant on.

Also panel edges will need sealing properly to stop water reaching any void behind.

You also need to make sure that the walls they are going onto are perfectly square, flat, level and at a perfect right angle to each other. As a bathroom fitter, I wouldn't use them myself.

We used panels in our wet room - can't remember the make but went to Bell's on Lordship Lane.... Our walls are neither flat, nor square, but the ones we used have a tolerance in them - no leaks, easy to clean, sturdy and look good....
