Putting a face to the company K&O Pest Control

Recommended Posts

When you call a company you never really know who you are speaking to, I thought it would be a good idea just to give you a little insight into the owners of K&O Pest Control. A picture of them is attached.

Here are the owners and the formidable Husband & Wife team Colin & Vicki Sims.

Colin also is a pest control technician and has been working in Pest control for 9yrs and was a few points away from a distinction in the RSPH level 2 in pest management. Colin loves his job and customers have even commented on this, which gives reassurance that when you call us you will receive the best service.

Vicki also works in the shop and has been in the pest control industry for 4yrs and is not scared of any of the pests that K&O deal with. Vicki has attended rodent courses and insect courses and is very knowledgeable. Although she is mainly based in the shop, she does attend jobs with Colin as this helps when talking to customers over the telephone she can tell the customer the basic process of what to expect, when the pest controller arrives.

Colin & Vicki have been together for 20yrs and married for 13yrs. They have 2 children Kasey 18yrs & Oliver 14yrs. have you worked it out yet?? yes the K&O is named after their 2 children.

They both believe in giving a great service and get really annoyed when customers call up telling them the bad experiences they have had with another pest control firm. When Colin & Vicki first set this business up it was very important that all customers will be treated as if the pest problem was in their home, therefore ensuring 100% customer service. They believe in good old fashioned values i.e they treat people how they would like to be treated.

They are very professional and like to calm a very stressful situation down, and they do this by reassuring customers that they are in safe hands, and that no matter who you are if the pest wants to come in they will find a way in. sometimes Vicki & the children may dress up in pest costumes just to lighten things up. you can visit the facebook page to see more pictures of this. please be aware some pictures will contain images you may not want to see.

The "no pests survive, when K&O arrive" slogan, was thought up by a customer from this forum.

If you have a pest problem do give K&O Pest Control a call 8778 1557

Thank you for sharing the picture Colin! I love the idea of a pest control company being named after the kids!

I really recommend Colin - in the last ten years I have had to call on his services twice and fortunately haven't needed his help for about the last two years.

Very professional, really sorted out my mouse problem quickly and efficiently and I sincerely hope we don't need to meet again any time soon.

    • Wow I had no idea they give you 5% in perfume for your accommodation. You're right, I need to travel more.
    • Do none of you go abroad.  Tourist taxes are really common in continental Europe and do vary a lot city by city. They are collected by the hotels/rental apartments. They are usually a  tiny part of your holiday costs.  In Narbonne recently we paid €1.30 per person per night.  The next town we went to charge 80 cents per person per night. By comparison Cologne is 5% of your accomodation.
    • Hey Sue, I was wrong - I don't think it would just be for foreign tourists. So yeah I assume that, if someone lives in Lewisham and wants to say the night in southwark, they'd pay a levy.  The hotels wouldn't need to vet anyone's address or passports - the levy is automatically added on top of the bill by every hotel / BnB / hostel and passed on to Southwark. So basically, you're paying an extra two quid a night, or whatever, to stay in this borough.  It's a great way to drive footfall... to the other London boroughs.  https://www.ukpropertyaccountants.co.uk/uk-tourist-tax-exploring-the-rise-of-visitor-levies-and-foreign-property-charges/
    • Pretty much, Sue, yeah. It's the perennial, knotty problem of imposing a tax and balancing that with the cost of collecting it.  The famous one was the dog licence - I think it was 37 1/2 pence when it was abolished, but the revenue didn't' come close to covering the administration costs. As much I'd love to have a Stasi patrolling the South Bank, looking for mullet haircuts, unshaven armpits, overly expressive hand movements and red Kicker shoes, I'm afraid your modern Continental is almost indistinguishable from your modern Londoner. That's Schengen for you. So you couldn't justify it from an ROI point of view, really. This scheme seems a pretty good idea, overall. It's not perfect, but it's cheap to implement and takes some tax burden off Southwark residents.   'The Man' has got wise to this. It's got bad juju now. If you're looking to rinse medium to large amounts of small denomination notes, there are far better ways. Please drop me a direct message if you'd like to discuss this matter further.   Kind Regards  Dave
