PROTECTING PECKHAM?S ROOFTOP VIEW: Presenting the petition Sat 7 Feb 3pm

Recommended Posts

Presenting the petition is the next stage in the campaign to protect Peckham's view from the rooftops on the Bussey building and the cinema/multi-storey car park building, while the future uses of the car park building are being examined.

Can you spare an hour on Saturday afternoon to support the deputation? We need as many supporters as possible to help ward councillors see the significance of this issue. This is about the need to have an integrated view to planning key aspects of the town centre. They do sometimes listen if they know enough local people are seriously taking a watchful interest.

Please come to support the petition presentation at the

Peckham & Nunhead Community Council on

SATURDAY 7th February at 3.00pm, in the Damilola Taylor Centre,

1 East Surrey Grove, off Commercial Way, near Southampton Way.

The petition to protect Peckham?s Rooftop View will be presented by the deputation tomorrow SATURDAY 7th February 3pm. Please come to support. It is really important to show the Council the extent of local concern. The Peckham & Nunhead Community Council is meeting in the Damilola Taylor Centre, 1 East Surrey Grove, off Commercial Way, near the junction with Southampton Way.

There will also be another important item now on the agenda ? they will be announcing the architects appointed for the next stage of the Peckham Rye Station CoDesign developments. This is a good opportunity to ask questions or make comments if you have any about the CoDesign process and what is going to be happening next.

    • Totally agree regarding not supporting chains. Gail’s was fine but last time I went in Feb this year, actually walked out Fayetteville looking at menu and waiting 15 minutes to even get glass of water and not busy at all. Staff gone down hill - sooner it goes the better… Always prefer to support non chains - so many lovely places with good food to choose from with pleasant staff who know about customer service and sadly, non English which says a lot for our culture, pubs are also becoming abit of a hit and miss affair but maybe just unlucky. At the end of the day all about the chef. Still abit unclear where new place is located - is it down the road from Goose Green where parade of shops are before Peckham Rye?
    • Surely only where the local businesses offer clear advantages, otherwise you are rewarding what should be failure. I want to be served by a better bakery than Gail's, not a worse but local independent one. Certainly give a local independent some time to get the offer right, but don't buy goods which are worse and or more expensive just because the outlet isn't a chain.
    • Let’s just boycott all chains in favour of local businesses.  Places like Gail’s popping up everywhere has a very damaging impact on small businesses. It’s just the same as the new empanadas place but on a bigger scale. I’ll say it a million times more, we hold the power with our choices. Let’s use our power to look after ourselves and our environment (which includes small local family businesses). And yes, I also love Chacarero.
