Hi just wondering if it is normal for a childminder to decide not working out after the settling in period? we are new to this and feeling huge disappointment after hearing the news this morning... Our little one is a bit fussy (all babies are no?) but don't think she is particularly difficult! Poor thing will have to go through the same thing again when we find a new childminder :(

Hiya, there could be many reasons - maybe your childminder hadn't had small babies for a while, maybe with other kids she couldn't quite manage, maybe there are personal circumstances - the list is endless. I do feel for you, it's an emotional thing anyway, starting with a childminder but I am sure you're better off to change now than later.

My childminder always told me for her the most important part was to work closely with parents, lots of communication at drop off/pick up, sticking to agreed rules etc. So maybe that's something to look for when you look for a new childminder? That way, you'll get early warning should something not be right...

And yes, all babies are fussy!

Best of luck

Please don't take it personally... It could be something simple like a friend/relative has asked them to look after their baby and therefore she would put them above quota for no of babies they are allowed to have.

I had a similar ish situation with a childminder 3 weeks before I was to start back at work. I reckon it was maybe something to do with her personal life but will never know. At the time it was very stressful, so I know how you are feeling. In the end we opted for a nursery and everything worked out fine and he is very happy. I know they are not all the same but most babies adapt easier than we think to new situations. best of luck and yes all babies fuss about something xx

    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
