Lunch recommendation please (not roast dinner)

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Got my mum and sister over today for lunch. Neither of them a huge fan of roast dinners/pub food, so looking for somewhere a bit different. My husband and I normally have our two year old son with us so tend to stick to family friendly pubs. However he's away this weekend and now I find myself not really knowing anywhere to go.

Any tips much apreciated- East dulwich, peckham or camberwell areas.

Thanks,

Jess

If you like chinese food then Sunday is one of the best times to get a table at the amazing Silk Road in Camberwell. If not then Begging bowl, Artusi, Ganapati are all within a stroll of each other on Bellenden road and are all good for non roasted lunches. I personally think the food at Montpelier is the best of the pubs in the area and they will, I think, have non roast options and also live Jazz on a Sunday if you are into that.

    • I understand that, but I can't really grasp how it works in practice, but never mind 😵‍💫
    • It's local independent shops supporting one another.
    • Adding my recommendation for Niko too. Found his number on here and he came out at short notice on a busy weeknight to help us with a kitchen sink issue that had flooded our kitchen that day. Really helpful, responsive and went out of his way to fit us in and help us out. Very reasonably priced too - would thoroughly recommend!
    • Looks like it! Though according to the OP, they are "golden, hand-crimped parcels  packed with flavour" 😀 I don't understand. Admittedly my brain is functioning at a very low level at the moment. Does that mean various local shops get together and agree to offer a discount to anyone who shows them a receipt from one of the other ones dated the same day? I can't see what's in it for either of them, unless people shop somewhere they wouldn't otherwise have done just to get the discount. Is it for vaguely  linked things, say cheese from a cheese shop, wine from another shop? Showing my age there.  And then suppose it's always the same shop which people go to second to get the discount? What's in it for the first shop? People go there in order to get the discount in the second shop?
