I grimaced when i came across loads of sticky sweets and toffees littering the pavements.

I was walking through the East Dulwich Estate and was walking on the pavement side when i trod on a half eaten lollipop, it stuck to the underside of my shoe and i almost went flying when it stuck to the ground like glue! then a few metres away were a trail of sticky strawberry laces.

I was intrigued and followed the mess across Dog Kennel Hill and saw a group of young kids and their parents strolling along squabbling about what pic 'n'n mix was best, eating the sweets then spitting them out! I thought that was disgusting and had a good mind to tell off the parents who did'nt seem in the slightest concerned the sticky mess they were leaving behind, littering our environment.

Yes you are right, i should have actually held those litterers to account, but was bit intimidated by them to be honest as they had one of those bull terrier type dogs that looked quite menacing, aswell as the adults themselves!. so no i thought it wise not to say anything just in case they turned on me. In many cases i would'nt have hesitated but i did then and for good reason.
I think we should start a collection to take Poppy on a nice day out around ED - we could hire a double decker bus (sans conductor) and go on a day trip, via the nice sweetshop on Northcross Road - we would sing happy songs to her and she could leave the trolley at home because the gentlemanly folk (or ladies!) of the forum would carry her bags. There'd be cake and ginger pop and nary a pit bull or hoodie in sight.

Get the Ginger bread man onto it, he sorts out all confectionary issues, you can get his details from the Muffin man of Drury lane. They usually send the tooth fairy round and she lays into their molars "big time".......it's a slow process is the justice system, but in a democracy it's all we have.

Keep 'em peeled.

    • Hi everyone,  Our daughter is starting reception at Harris Primary in September. I'm trying to track down other parents with Harris reception kids so I can arrange a class get together in advance. Harris have not set up any Whatsapp group etc before the start of term and say this is not possible, which seems different to what other schools in the area are doing. My daughter doesn't know anyone else starting at Harris and is feeling sad about leaving her nursery friends, so would love to start meeting other people and reassuring her about the great friends she'll make very soon!  Many thanks  Isabel
    • CPR is right - I was shocked when I discovered how much of our CO2 emissions are down to cats and dogs, what with pet food manufacturing, them shitting everywhere, plastic poo bags etc they are not environmentally friendly at all.  I don't know what we'd do without our dog - it would leave a massive hole in our lives and it's so valuable for children to grow up with pets - but at the same time, I feel bad about it every day.
