Hello,

Writing to know if anyone has any recommendations for a comfy chair to be used mainly for breast feeding. Sounds simple but our son is 7 months and 11kg and long with it, so feeding him at night without putting your back out or it being a struggle to get up without waking him if he goes off. Tried a few but no joy so far.

Thanks.

We have a Kub glider- similar to this http://www.johnlewis.com/kub-haywood-glider-nursing-chair-and-footstool-white/p231876461 not cheap... but have had it two years and really couldn't do with out it- mine is now 2 and its still comfortable for long cuddles, storytime etc

As a cheaper quicker fix, have you got a breast feeding pillow? I used the Dream Genii but there are loads and found them invaluable as also had three big heavy boys! I found that he would fall asleep curled in the pillow and could then lift the pillow up and plonk him with it in the cot and then unfurl it from him.

Good luck

Another option is to try to feed lying down on your bed-I did this with both of mine when they got a bit bigger. It can make bad habits as I often fell asleep, as did baby, but it saved my back and we were both safe to fall asleep. If you don't fall asleep you can easily scoop baby up to transfer. I had a long first baby and didn't get on with my dutalier as a result so got rid of it...

    • I don't know how it works now but my late parents had little money when they were retired (just state pension and they rented their flat) and they used to take their cat to the Blue Cross (In Victoria if I remember correctly) where treatment was free for those who could'nt afford a private vet. I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.

If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
