Perhaps I should.. Not much of a coffee drinker either but a nice pot of decent tea sounds more up by street.

Will report back.

Went there this morning.. Delightful little place...

Had a Pot of Tea 2.00 and one of those spirally current things (Pain aux raisins) ? 2.25

Tea was fresh in a proper china tea-pot with little milk jug.

Pain aux raisins was very fresh.

Lovely atmosphere with pleasant low level background music so you can talk without shouting.

Loved the simplicity of the d?cor and the little cushions. Not at all ostentatious.

Very attentive and pleasant staff..

Hope not too many people find out about it. I want it all to my self .. :)

No. Well worth a visit..

Could not resist the rustic sugar cubes Brown and White. not good for my B.G. levels..

But then I discovered they have gone to the trouble of providing Sweetners.

Dear French Cafe,

Please see that all but the OP on here loves your cafe. I myself have been for many years and never had a bad experience. I like too that it feels so friendly and local. I often see the same faces (both customers and staff) so that says something about your service. Loyal return custom always does. Think nothing of the OP. You and the staff have always gone out of your way to make room as best as possible for me, any guests I've been with and my LO. The food and coffee are always great. The OP must have been somewhere else ;)

I was amused to see a blackboard in Lordship Lane today advertising the Brick House and including the words "Average Looking Staff!" :)) :)) :))

ETA: Yas seems to have done wonders in getting this cafe known and loved by new customers. All good!

    • One time Sainsbury's delivered 6 bags of apples instead of 6 single apples which I couldn't possibly get through. I phoned Pecan in Peckham to ask if they would accept them despite their website stating no fresh foods. I must have phoned at just the right time as they were happy to accept them. Sainsburys gave me a refund so the donation was courtesy of them. Or you could experiment with all kinds of apple recipes and write a blog about it
    • There's a food bank off Dog Kennel Hill. Albrighton Community Fridge. https://www.albrightoncommunityfridge.org/ I'm sure they would welcome them, but maybe check first? Drop off seven days a week 9 - 5. Be warned if you are going by car, parking can be very difficult, easiest if there are two of you so one person can take the food in while the other can move the car if necessary.
    • Food banks for sure and what about approaching these schools in area that run summer camps - although having said that with health and safety being so strict might not allow it - crazy really.    Can’t remember name of church but was one in Peckham that from memory did a community meal a couple of times a week. Now they for sure would take them and probably Kingswood House as well.
