Recommendations for wedding venues in East Dulwich or nearby

Hello there, EDF-ers,

I'm getting married in September and we've just lost our venue. We'd like to get married close to home, so does anyone have any recommendations for a reception venue, especially for the affianced on a budget? We're inviting between 150-200 people so it'll need to be fairly spacious! Any recommendations would be heartily appreciated.

Cheers!

Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,

I shot a wedding in a place called "Court Gardens" in Marlow which is just outside London near Maidenhead. The couple said the value was great and it really is a beautiful building.

I've just found the website i'll leave a link here to have a look at.

Hope you find somewhere

All the best

Have you looked at bel air house In dulwich village? Really nice building and grounds. Think you can hire all of it out but not sure (we're only looking at the upstairs as it's for a christening). Lots of parking as well.

Good luck X

Bad luck Rebecca. There are some great venues in and around SE22. If you're planning a date that's not high season and possibly on a week day you might be able to negotiate a better rate for a lovely Wedding venue.

You may have looked at these already but I can recommend the following that I've worked at:

Dulwich College

Horniman Conservatory

Dulwich Picture Gallery

The Garden Museum - Lambeth

The Lido Cafe - Herne Hill (not sure they can handle over 100)

Rosedale pub (West Dulwich)

Belair House (mentioned above)

Kingwood House - West Dulwich

Queens House - Greenwich

Maritime Museum - Greenwich

Good luck :)

    • Hello! We are relocating abroad and so will be withdrawing our two children (ages 4 and 6) from St Dunstan’s College (Catford). If any family is considering enrolling children of a similar age, now would be an excellent opportunity—we’re required to pay full‑term fees unless the places are taken. Please get in touch if you’re interested or know someone who might be. Thank you!
    • Hi  I really thought I'd seen a more recent post on the forum about home education meet ups. I can't find it though. • Thanks for your reply. I’ve subscribed to Ancestry a few times in the past but felt I wasn’t using it enough to warrant keeping up the subscription.
    • Hi, I saw your post and just wanted to say that the incident you’re referring to did happen in the late 1980s at Dawson’s Heights. The person involved was named Carl Salawa, and he had just turned 18 years old at the time. Like you, I haven’t been able to find any news articles or official reports about it, If anyone remembers anything more about that time or incident, I’d really appreciate hearing about it. Thanks for sharing what you were told—it means a lot to know others remember.
