Almost mugged on Lordship Lane Moped

So,this evening walking up lordship lane, I just got off the phone and someone on a moped grabbed my arm in an attempt to snatch my phone. Phone fell on the floor... watch out and don't just hold your phone out. I don't know how someone manages to creep up on you on a moped, but there you go....

Very sorry to hear this, hope you reported it and are not too shook up.

Due to the virtually zero police presence in the area and the perception of ED as being gentrified/well off, street crime of this nature goes on unchallenged, sadly. I thought part of our poll tax was meant to go towards having more than one (albeit very nice) police officer covering the entire area..

Not entirely true. There is an unmarked police car om L.L. during most of the day. I have seen how effective this is after an attempted mugging outside the Co-op. The Old Bill were on the scene in a matter of seconds. They are often within sight of the HSBC and Barclays cash terminals. Quite effective.

I agree with green Goose. And I'd also add that street robbery happens all over Southwark, even in the poorer areas, and more so in some cases.
