Mustard
Has anyone heard of these? A friend in the States told me that her daughter was having one. After the 20 week scan is done at the hospital, the doctor writes down the sex of the baby, and puts it in a sealed envelope. The envelope is delivered to a bakery, who opens it and then bakes a cake with either a blue or pink middle. The cake is cut into at the party and it is the first time the parents to be know what they are having.Seems like it could be fraught with difficulties. hellosailor
People have started to do this here now I believe..the idea is to invite all your family and friends over to find out with you?it was in the papers recently cos someone got the wrong filling due to a mix up at the bakery! Whole thing sounds like a recipe for disaster (excuse the pun.) Mustard
My friend's daughter had the party and did invite friends and family. She sent me a picture of the father to be doing a fist pump when he found out it was going to be a boy. Wonder what would have happened if it was a girl. Surely the best idea is to find out yourselves, then tell friends and family. I guess it helps a lot if you don't have any preference. landsberger
Do we have to shamelessly ape everything the Americans do ? When I was a kid, we had no proms, no baby showers, no play dates, all of which are US in origin.
