Knit Group, StichED and BitchED, every Tuesday, from 7@The Prince Albert

Recommended Posts

The title says it all really, we meet weekly and knit, or crochet, and have a wee drink and a chat about yarn and other stuff.

We have a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/105594917610/ (which is where you'll fine the most activity, it's regularly used and updated)

and a Ravelry page: http://www.ravelry.com/groups/stitched (which is brand spanking new, so please join up and hopefully once a few more of us are on there it will become a useful kind of hub for us to share projects and information)

and a Pinterest page: https://www.pinterest.com/spohlaz/stitched-and-bitched/ (for yarn porn, mostly).

Any crafty types are welcome to come along, bring your project and join us for a drink (or two, perhaps 4 on a really rocking night) or get yourself some pretty yarn and some needles or a hook and we'll teach you!

Hey Yarnies,

it's the Cherry Tree for us again.

I think it's time to start thinking about Christmas projects. Not beause I've just been to the supermarket and have come away feeling all ready to break out the tinsel and brandy, but because some of us are not terribly quick workers, and these things have to be FINISHED by December.

So bring along any inspirational ideas you've seen on ravelry or pinterest, or that have just popped into your pretty head and need some help to make real.

LET'S BAUBLE!

(BTW, I still have ping pong balls left from last year, when I completely failed to make EVEN ONE bauble if you want one, or a few.)

We're venturing out of the Cherry Tree again for adventures in a new (quieter, better lit, albeit a bit off the beaten track). Tomorrow night we'll be meeting at The Prince Albert, on Bellenden Road, SE15 4QY. I'll be late, as usual, but others will be there from 7.

Hope to see some of you tomorrow !

Hey Yarnies, short notice I know but if any of you are free Friday night (after 8) I'm going to get out a knitting machine or two at my place (Forest Hill) and have a play. Come along if you can! (PM me for address)

There will be cake.

There will be wine.

There will be yarn.

See you then?

Hey Yarnies! Who's coming tonight? If you are going to show your face (and your knitting) I have a bit of a request. If you happen to have any glass jars that haven't been turfed into the recycling yet then please could I have them?

Hope to see you tonight!

    • This week's edition of The Briefing Room I found really useful and impressively informative on the training aspect.  David Aaronovitch has come a long way since his University Challenge day. 😉  It's available to hear online or download as mp3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n7wv In a few days time resident doctors -who used to be known as junior doctors - were meant to be going on strike. This would be the 14th strike by the doctors’ union since March 2023. The ostensible reason was pay but now the dispute may be over without more increases to salary levels. The Government has instead made an offer to do something about the other big issue for early career doctors - working conditions and specialist training places. David Aaronovitch and guests discuss what's going on and ask what the problem is with the way we in Britain train our doctors? Guests: Hugh Pym, BBC Health Editor Sir Andrew Goddard, Consultant Gastroenterologist Professor Martin McKee, Professor of European Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Mark Dayan, Policy Analyst, Nuffield Trust. Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Kirsteen Knight, Cordelia Hemming Production Co-ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineers: Michael Regaard, Gareth Jones Editor: Richard Vadon
    • That was one that the BBC seem to have lost track of.  But they do still have quite a few. These are some in their 60s archive. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0028zp6
