mishe replied to es22's topic in What's on in East Dulwich
Hello, thanks for the invite. I got your SMS too. Sorry I didn't respond earlier, but I am in the Faroe Islands attending a wool festival, going gaga over all the Sheep roaming the islands. Very cool place. Have fun Friday night. I hope to see you and the other knitters Tues might. -

Hello ladies: Here's the info on the Sound of Music singalong: http://www.singalonga.net/sound-of-music/ Natalie, you were right; it's at the Prince Charles Cinema. Unfortunately I am not able to make the next few dates, but I could do the performance on 27 March 2015. Would you all be available to plan for that date. If not, then maybe a later date? Michele -
Tuesday Tipplers Book Club - newbies welcome

Hello all, Unfortunately I have another commitment tonight so won't be able to attend my first meeting with you all, but looking forward to the next one. Sorry; probably in the minority but I did not enjoy 'We are all...' I found Rosemary terribly annoying and I couldn't get past that. Although I tried very hard to give it several opportunities to improve I just desperately wanted the book to end so I could erase her from my memory. So I ended up reading another book and that helped me get over Rosemary. Red-Cat, this may be a stretch on the theme but how about 'All the light we can not see' by A. Doerr? The main characters are from 'neighbor'-ing countries and the story sounds fascinating... Or is that too far of a stretch on the theme? Looking forward to meeting everybody next month. -

Hello all, I have wanted to join your book group but the timing of your meetings haven't worked out yet. Maybe next month... I have read two of the books on your list (one I enjoyed very much and the other was so boring I stopped reading it halfway through and gave the book away. We are completely besides ourselves sounds interesting; it gets my vote. -

Hello ladies. This is Michele. It was wonderful meeting all of you who were there last week for the SnB. I am in the midst of doing a major decluttering purge to free up space in our teensy weensy flat and have some old yarn that I want to find a good home for. Most of the yarn is summer weight that I have picked up during my travels. The fibers are probably cotton, silk, bamboo, etc. I can't remember anymore...Most are smooth, slippery and would probably make good things for summer and spring (drapey tops, skirts, etc). I suppose one could crochet them into things as well, but I bought them intending to knit summer tops, which I just never got around to doing. If anyone is interested, please let me know and I can bring it to our next meeting on Tues night. If no one is interested, then I will donate them to Oxfam. -
Sunday women only boxing Hamlets Health club!

I tried Simone's class last week and found it to be exactly what I was looking for: physically challenging, different and fun. What I liked about my first class was the individual attention she gave, her energy and passion and the sweat-inducing nature of her workouts. I highly recommend her class to anyone looking to learn boxing in a safe environment, and you'll receive a cleansing workout as well. What better way to start your week! Thanks Simone! -

Hi Naomi, I was so looking forward to tonight's meeting, but I seem to have caught a cold; so I won't be able to attend tonight. I do not want to infect anyone else. Have a good discussion and I look forward to the next book and meeting. -

Thanks for the note on the next meetup. I have it down on my calendar for next Tuesday. At the moment I am knitting a poncho with Rowan's Felted Tweed. It's my first time knitting with the Felted Tweed and so far, I'm enjoying it. Hopefully I can finish it up this week and will cast on for another project. Look forward to meeting you and the group next week. Cheers! -

Hello, I recently moved into the area and am interested in joining a SNB group. How often do you meet and where? Thanks! -
Hi Louisa, Sorry but my hubby and I won't be able to make it tonight. We had hoped to get much of our unpacking done today but it is taking us longer than we expected to unpack, find places for everything and organize so we have some room to move around our small flat. I hope we will be able to join you and the filmclub members at the next film event. Have fun tonight! Michele

Yes, I was also overwhelmed by all the options and thought it would be easier to access the smaller venue options. I did the Crystal Palace Subway, which was very interesting and informative. I am surprised that it continues to be boarded up; I could imagine the space being used to hold events and cultural activities. However, the tour was a bit underwhelming for me because I had expected to have access to a real subway system, a bit like spelunking or something, which the tour was not. However, the building exhibits beautiful examples of brick and stone craftsmanship and I am glad that I was afforded a chance to see it.
