Highly recommend local carpenter Doug Hathaway

All,

It was through this forum that I heard about a carpenter who has been highly recommended here: Doug Hathaway. Today he re-hung an internal door at my flat & replaced some broken sockets.

He kept to his word in terms of timing, quote etc. I found him to be very reliable and he did a brilliant job.

His number is 07748 151682. [email protected]

I (along with a number of others here) can highly recommend him.

Thanks Doug and thank you East Dulwich forum, for coming up trumps yet again!

I too would like to add a recommendation for Doug who has just built and painted some fabulous fitted wardrobes for us. As others have said, he is hard-working and reliable and does an excellent job taking real pride in his work. He fitted out the interiors of the wardrobes exactly to our spec, to a really high standard and was very patient with our not always prompt decision making! The finish is excellent and it was well worth paying him to paint them too. His pricing is reasonable and clearly broken down and he stuck exactly to his quote. We found him to be totally trustworthy as he did a lot of the work while we were away and is a very nice, friendly guy.

I don't have any pictures of the wardrobes to attach now but would be happy to take and send them if you pm me.

Like the many other posts, we contacted Doug after seeing the EDF recommendations. He built 3 wardrobes for us which look great. He was punctual, clean and very trustworthy (he completed the work while we were on holiday which was brilliant). He gave us some good ideas for the doors and internal layout and built exactly as requested. We have 2 small children and he just got on with the job, was easy to have around and considerate during "nap" times! Further he helped us with some additional carpentry work (skirting boards, picture rails) which looks superb.

    • Oh give it a break.  We have an MP who makes racist comments, yet our media (and what seems like this Forum) that generally hate Labour (and loved Johnson) are just out looking for the dirt. It's a move on, nothing to see here.  Particularly if she used a letting agency.

    • I don't think a single all-inclusive URL is easily doable.  When you enter a search the system presents the result without any of one's search parameters added to the URL.  So I suggest you go to https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/search.do?action=advanced where you just need to enter the address -- use SE22 8EW -- and the  Date Received start date.  I used 1/1/2025.  The three Tesco applications, all minor things, were all made in May.  The Simple search that I'd done previously had no time limit, and didn't include anything else that might have been from Tesco in the last two years. Incidentally, when I searched on the address 29-35 Lordship Lane it did not pick up the Tesco applications, which were held as 29 - 35 Lordship Lane Grrr!
