Purpleshel
I recently got engaged and looking at getting married next December at the old library in dulwich college but looking for a reception venue. The college itself was an option but it's now having work done on the front all of next year and the discount they are offering due to this is minimal. They also don't know what exactly the place will look like just yet so putting a hold on there for now. Not to mention they are coming out rather pricey. Belair looks good but we are having 80 and it's a bit of a squeeze for dinner. Not looking for anything where ridiculously fancy however within in reason.Anyone been to a reception in EDT, if so was it a squeeze upstairs. Worries about confining the guests in one small space. I also hear the Herne Tavern have a barn out the back??!!Any ideas or advice hugely appreciated!! Otta
I went to a great recetion at the EDT, but they just did a buffet. Can't see it working to well for a sit down meal for 80, but for a buffet and a good dance it was cool. Purpleshel
Thanks OttaYeah apparently it holds 85 seated and 120 standing.St faith's hall is also an option. However think it's pretty much DIY Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/57904-wedding-reception-in-dulwich/#findComment-844144 Share on other sites
Otta
I played a gig at St Faith's hall once for a private party, and they'd hired Susan James to do the catering. Perhaps that would be an option... Purpleshel
She seems to be a popular choice. Friends of ours used her when they got married at st Giles crypt last year. Have emailed for a quote so will see what she comes back with thanks. The only thing that puts me of diy is not being able to get into the venue the night before and having to rush on the morning off...Mmmh maybe I'm making a bigger deal of it then need be though.Thank you again :-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/57904-wedding-reception-in-dulwich/#findComment-844154 Share on other sites
Otta
The band I used to be in did a lot of events with Sue at various venues. She's lovely and does good food and a good service. I can't speak for her prices though as no idea what they are.Good luck. lozzyloz
Have a look at The Rosendale Purpleshel. Can hold 100 seated and very close to DC. Also SJ is excellent if you go DIY.PS Congrats to you both! Purpleshel
Thanks guys. Will investigate further. Never head of the banqueting halls so worth a look. I popped into the Edt today and they can seat 70 comfortably but can do more. However think it may be a squeeze Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/57904-wedding-reception-in-dulwich/#findComment-844366 Share on other sites
Louisianna2012
Hello :) I work on an ad-hoc basis wedding co-ordinator (background in events and weddings etc). A lot of people doing their own weddings then hire someone for one the day help - including dressing the venue and liaising with caterers etc so you can get on with your day!Might be something to consider.Lou Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/57904-wedding-reception-in-dulwich/#findComment-844655 Share on other sites
