Wedding Reception in Dulwich

Recommended Posts

I recently got engaged and looking at getting married next December at the old library in dulwich college but looking for a reception venue.

The college itself was an option but it's now having work done on the front all of next year and the discount they are offering due to this is minimal. They also don't know what exactly the place will look like just yet so putting a hold on there for now. Not to mention they are coming out rather pricey.

Belair looks good but we are having 80 and it's a bit of a squeeze for dinner. Not looking for anything where ridiculously fancy however within in reason.

Anyone been to a reception in EDT, if so was it a squeeze upstairs. Worries about confining the guests in one small space.

I also hear the Herne Tavern have a barn out the back??!!

Any ideas or advice hugely appreciated!! Thanks

She seems to be a popular choice. Friends of ours used her when they got married at st Giles crypt last year. Have emailed for a quote so will see what she comes back with thanks. The only thing that puts me of diy is not being able to get into the venue the night before and having to rush on the morning off...Mmmh maybe I'm making a bigger deal of it then need be though.

Thank you again :-)

Hello :)

I work on an ad-hoc basis wedding co-ordinator (background in events and weddings etc).

A lot of people doing their own weddings then hire someone for one the day help - including dressing the venue and liaising with caterers etc so you can get on with your day!

Might be something to consider.

    • I don't know how it works now but my late parents had little money when they were retired (just state pension and they rented their flat) and they used to take their cat to the Blue Cross (In Victoria if I remember correctly) where treatment was free for those who could'nt afford a private vet. I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.

If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
    • Like I thought… prob like that for most of the day.. especially after people had walked their dogs, with friends, relatives  kids…
