this times a million

I am going to have to retire from this discussion. It is turning my hair grey.

Defo this. It's all about the flow. 020 pause? Get out of here and take your strange ways with you...

Actually, so do I with my own number. Doh!

The main thing is that the fist 5 digits are together. I can accept xx,xx,xx or xxx, xxx.

Back when it was still '01' the rest of the number was a group of three then a group of four stretching back to when the group of three numbers in the middle referred to a local exchange (like Mayfair 3232) so the habit of quoting a group of three then four numbers persists leaving whatever comes before it - whether 01. 0171, 0207 etc. - as another group, something we have also adopted with mobile numbers. It's a habit borne out of historical usage rather than hysterical abusage.

I'm deffo one of those who annoys the hell out of most of you - I can assure you it's done mostly out of habit especially when dealing with callers from all over the world using various devices AND one shouldn't assume just because you're sitting in a particular area that the person you're giving a number to knows where you are or where they are!

Cant's really understand the frustration here...

More annoying are those amongst the human race who insist on pronouncing the zero part of a postcode as an o and try to correct you when you repeat it back with a zero!

eg. SE22 ZEROer V SE22 oer

Yes. We all wait until we know you're off work, then start.

    • There was another unprovoked attack on Monday this week on a young woman nearby (Anstey Road) at 6.45pm. Don't have any other details, it was posted on a Facebook group by her flatmate. Pretty worrying  https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1EGfDrCAST/
    • OMFG is it possible for the council to do anything without a bunch of armchair experts moaning about it? The library refurb is great news, as it's lovely but completely shagged out - the toilets don't even work reliably. Other libraries in the area will be open longer house during the closure. July is a rubbish time to begin a refurb because it's just before the entire construction sector goes on summer holiday, and it would mean delaying the work another 8 months.

    • Second time Aria has completed a plumbing job for me and both times he’s been polite. Communicative, kept to time and completed the job. He’s very helpful and tidy as well. First job was ball valve in water tank, not easy at all. He and his team were fantastic. This time kitchen tap cylinders replaced and tap tightened.  Much appreciated, Aria thank you.
