Callie
Just bought some Blossom Hill White Zinfandel in Family Stores on Upland Rd, doesn't taste right. No sell by date on it but says 2013 on the small label on the back. It's meant to be fruity & fresh, um more like fusty & funny I'd say, with a hint of old socks! Prolly serves me right for getting the cheapest bottle, which wasn't really cheap at at ?6 short of a penny. Callie
ruffers Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Is it a cork or screw top?screw top. I was only looking at low alcohol content (under 11%) & the price :O) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/60358-is-2013-wine-old-tastes-a-bit-funny/#findComment-852879 Share on other sites

Saffron
I think the age is fine, but it sounds like that wine was not stored properly and got too warm at some point in its life. Aside from the taste, this might also affect (possibly increase) the alcohol content. Take it back for a refund if you can be arsed. If not, down it and give us a minute by minute update of the results! ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/60358-is-2013-wine-old-tastes-a-bit-funny/#findComment-852883 Share on other sites

I am half way through now & it does taste a little bit better than it did at the start ;-) Don't think they will accept a refund on empty bottle :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/60358-is-2013-wine-old-tastes-a-bit-funny/#findComment-852884 Share on other sites
Horsebox
For ?6 a pop you could get a decent bottle from Majestic. You'd have to buy a minimum of 6 bottles, of course, but if one of them tasted 'fusty and funny' you'd be guaranteed a replacement.
