remote controlled boat toy on pond/lake

What's the closest pond/lake I can take my son to play with his remote controlled boat?

I'd want very shallow water so that we can get the boat back if the remote control stops working,

I think I saw water in the waterplay area at Ruskin park. Not sure if it's enough in the middle bit but certainly fine for walking in if the remote stops working.
