Felled Tree - Edge of Peckham Rye Park

Saw this on the back end of my run this morning - opposite Williamson Court on the Rye Pub side of the park. Massive old tree it looked like. Anyone else noticed this? Will definitely be ringing up/writing to Southwark asking them why on earth they've felled it, unless it's been deemed dead...

Think it fell down last night in the storm....

It was felled months ago, it was a very sickly horse chestnut - a sad loss but necessary I think. I live in Aura Court so have observed its decline over the last few years.
