It is intimidating looking through the book sections now. I sometimes wonder if they're stocking bookshops' remainders. OTOH, when I put some books out in a cardboard box for taking, it was encouraging to see that a fair proportion of those taken were aged hardbacks. -

For a start you could just try a standard shutdown and let the system try its own tidy-up and graceful process halting. Then remove the disk,which can be examined elsewhere. Alternatively doesn't windows have a task manager that can show you what processes and devices are running, and allow you to shut any down.Ctrl_Alt_Delete? Or use a command window or ?Explorer to examine any changes in the contents of the external drive.

There are quite a few chains on LL- M&S food, Co-OP,Poundland,Holland and Barratt,Pret (LL-ish), Megans,Superdrug,Costa,Gails,Joe and the Juice, Gormet Burger Kitchen,Sweaty Betty, Oliver Bonas... Those are the ones I can think of.
