I love all those Ska tunes Jah. I had a compiliation tape called Liquidator in the early 90's with much of those on it. Do you know who recorded "Shame and Scandal in the family"? I have it in my mind that it was Pete Tosh. Am I right?

I've heard Shame And Scandal In The Family and it was a calypso tune.

I haven't looked yet but the late (white) actor and singer, Lance Percival used to do a lot of them, Gossip Calypso being particularly memorable.

I think this was done by an original calypso artiste though.

1/ Everything She Wants-Wham--Reminds me of Sharon circa 1995

2/ Nothing Compares To You--Sinead O'Connor--Natasha 1992/3.

3/ Careless Whisper-Wham

4/ Where Is The Love-Roberta Flack/Donny Hathaway-Isle Of Wight holiday with My Mum after Dad died in August 1972.

5/ Guilty-Barry Gibb/Barbra Streisand

6/ Something-The Beatles

7/ Tonight I Celebrate My Love For You-Roberta Flack/Peebo Bryson (I think)

8/ Somebody-The Eagles-Road To Eden

8/ See You In September-No personal memories but the feeling of leaving a love one in June for the whole Summer used to make my heart sink at the prospect.

9/ In My Life-The Beatles-Sheer nostalgia.

10/Skye Boat Song-Beautiful Ballad.

Nothing wrong in a bit of alcohol-induced melancholy once-in-a-while, RD!

I like how songs sometimes weave themselves into our emotions and experiences so they are inextricably connected. One of my earliest song-related connections was 'Lily The Pink' by The Scaffold (don't laugh). I remember our class having to sing it in music lessons, urged on my Miss Scott, our very enthusiastic Scottish teacher. 1967-8 I think. Sadly, I was still too young to remember other classic 60's stuff, although the chorus to 'Grocer Jack' still invades my conciousness from time to time.

I know Brum, good to purge the soul once in a while!

This is a great thread, what I like about music/song nostalgia lists is that they remind you of the songs that you had forgotten you liked, if that makes sense...your choice of Hazel O'Connor's 'Will You' being a prime example, I feel a download frenzy coming on...

Do you remember Terry Jack - Season's in the Sun?..how sad was that song?!..

    • Hi Merry Christmas no joy with that Paul Hackett email thanks
    • Miss Robson is the last of the old school independent vets. All the chains are have seriously hiked their prices over the last few years which now makes pet ownership only possible for the wealthy few. Even with pet insurance -( which often excludes items or has ‘deductibles’ ) it is just so much money. A visit with some medication is often £150 - £200. The vets themselves are excellent.
    • Awful. A Google search came up with this, but will he check his office email over Christmas? Maybe worth also contacting local councillor? 'To contact Southern Housing's CEO, Paul Hackett, you can try his direct email, [email protected], or use the general contact email [email protected], as well as calling their main number, 0300 303 1066, for general inquiries or to be directed to the executive level.' Also, from the website: https://www.southernhousing.org.uk/latest-news/2025/contacting-us-over-the-festive-period   'Contacting us about an emergency? If you have an emergency outside of the above times over the festive period, such as severe flooding, an uncontainable leak, gas leak, complete electrical failure or lift breakdown, please call us on 0300 303 1066' I hope it is sorted out soon.
