Kitchen Extension

Hi,

I am planning on having a kitchen extension done to my Victorian house and was hoping to get an idea of the costs. I have had a quote for ?80k to include the Kitchen (14k). Does this seem along the lines of what is expected as I was thinking it would be about 40k - 50k.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Tim,

I run a small design practice and do quite a bit of this stuff. ?14k kitchen is a pretty good spec and a simple rear extension is about ?45k (kitchen is on top). A rear and side extension is nearer ?60-80k (again kitchen on top). On top of this you'll need to add approx 10% for prof fees (Build control, struct engineer and design). Good luck.

Tim, we are doing wrap around extension and have now had quotes in all for more than ?150k, excluding kitchen! We are gobsmacked. And of course we have already spent a lot of money on designs, fees etc.
