Just wanted to say how great the shop looks now and how helpful all the staff are ,so informative and friendly . I had a freshly made cheese salad sandwich and a slice of their new caramel shortbread which was the best I have tasted ,its so nice to have somewhere that does such a huge range of freshly made sandwiches and salads ( not all this pre-packed rubbish .I also had a latte ,which was much cheaper than starbucks and tasted a lot nicer and at ?1.75 was a real bargain for Dulwich . I would definitely recommend going here if you like traditional shops that ,fresh produce and not mass produced .

Yes, I spotted the new signage. I thought at first it was a completely new business.

Had a quick peer in only to see the same staff still serving.

Always helpful and very friendly.. Freshly made sandwiches made to order..

It would seem where staff have been around for a while that they must be happy in their work.

More shops like that please.

Will you..... I mean 'they' make one up for me

Hirsts - or whatever it's called now - is old school, and that's not always a bad thing. I quite like the way it's like walking past a kids party from 1983, complete with chocolate cornflake cakes, and fairy cakes with hundreds-and-thousands. (Badger is a branch of the same chain I think, but doesn't quite have the same kitsch appeal).

In a similar vein, there's a newish place on Rye Lane called "Munch & Crunch", which offers an authentic 80s vibe and product range. I'm a fan.

    • Actually, if it was factory fitted then it's location would be documented. It's the fact that it can be fitted in different places which means that it's difficult for thieves to locate.
    • OK, good suggestion and it appears that the after-market price is about £260. But if that that was fitted ex-factory then the cost would be substantially less and certainly a small fraction of the price of a high-end car.
