Is there anywhere in ED, or London, where one can play table tennis?

I've not played for over 30 years, but the thread with respect to badminton has taken me back to my teenage days, where the other sport de jour, along with squash, was ping-pong!

Anyone up for it?

I saw a brilliant thing over in London Fields the other day, a concrete table tennis table in a park, i thought it was brilliant, it would be great to get a few of them in Peckham Rye park, it would be a great little focus point.

'Fraid no trophies Tony, but I once gave Chester Barnes a run for his money at Pontins Holiday Camp, Camber Sands in the mid-seventies. Mind you, he was using an over-sized frying pan as a bat at the time, flash c**t!!

I still have my "Chester Barnes-Frying Pan Shaped" Bat!

I kid you not. Cost me 50 pence in 1974 and I used it for 15 years.

Different colours each side with different pimples each side, one "slow" and one "fast".

It was easier to deceive an opponent with a "twiddle" b4 the Law was changed to have 2 different colurs to each side.

Before both sides looked the same and you can imagine the fun I had!

Sometimes I played a like-minded player and got hoist with my own petard but I played in The Central London League ( Premier) and Westminster Summer League for nearly 15 years in each League.

Great days and some fabulous battles!

Saw this at JAGS Sports Hall:

Tuesdays - at 18:30 - 20:45 Table Tennis

am totally up for this if there are fellow addicts in East Dulwich!!

Not sure of cost or anything like that but will find out - so if you're interested...

I'll have you know I went over to Portland,Oregon and beat 2 of The USA Olympic Table Tennis Team at a State Fair in their own backyard in '79.

I wasn't invited back..lol
