Would this affect the reduced council tax benefit ?anyone Know ? She pays council tax at the flat she owns, so I have assumed that I would still get the single occupancy council tax here.However once she has moved out of her flat, if she hasn't found a place to buy and is still living with me, I imagine then I would lose the single occupancy discount (I'd be better off though as she'd be paying half the council tax :) )ETA: Sorry, just realised I'm not sure if you're talking about housing benefit or council tax. Mmm think you're right ,will depend on whether visitor has a permanent residence where he pays council tax . The Minkey Posted July 25, 2015 Share Posted July 25, 2015 I wouldn't be so sure about that. I had to pay Council Tax on two properties when I moved to Southwark as my obligation extended both to the property I'd bought and the rental I was living in while the house was being made habitable, so just because you've paid it in one location does not mean you are exempt if you are temporarily living elsewhere.
