Isserlis
Hello! I'm thinking of moving to ED and am looking at a flat in Holmes Close, off Oakhurst Grove. It seems to be a really good location as it's close to the leisure centre and shops.Has anyone lived in this development? Is it relatively quiet? It looks fine to me but I know there are sometimes problems with developments with a low proportion of owner-occupiers and newer build flats tend to have poorer sound-proofing than conversions of Victorian terraced houses. Thanks in advance for any advice. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/67738-holmes-close/ Share on other sites
KidKruger
older victorian conversions can frequently have shockingly bad sound proofing. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/67738-holmes-close/#findComment-877999 Share on other sites
hpsaucey
I've lived in both - old Victorian converted flat - terrible in terms of sound coming from the upstairs flat; now in a 2012 new build - also pretty bad because the vibrations head straight through the wooden structure .... Can you talk to anyone else living there and see how they find it? Peckhamrye
I live in a 2007 new build and the sound proofing is excellent, much better than the Victorian conversion I lived in previously. loveED86
I live in a victorian conversion and lets just say my neighbour downstairs and I might as well be living together!Every movement is heard and you can even hear when the light/plug socket switch is pressed! no soundproofing here whatsoever but other conversions may not be so bad especially if there is some sort of soundproofing. Jeremy
Victorian conversions - sound proofing usually pretty bad. Victorian houses - usually reasonably good. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/67738-holmes-close/#findComment-879283 Share on other sites

YOu'd think there would be a way ofimproving it in older houses.
