The metal benches were removed (not stolen!) as they were quite worn and didn't look great. There are no plans to replace these with wooden ones. The cafe has purchased more v heavy duty picnic benches that are on the grassed bit at the side of the cafe.

The idea really is to try and contain the bulk of the cafe users in the cafe and at the area to the side and not on the common to the front. This also helps with the litter.

Of course people will buy coffee/ice cream etc and go onto the common or into the park, but they are unlikely to be carting full meals around with them!

Thanks for that ,I can see the logic in that.I do occasionally just buy a coffee and bring my own lunch so I assume it will be permissable to sit at these tables then as there is nowhere esle to sit except further along which is usually shaded( I like to sit in the sun ! )

Admin, is this SE22 or did you miss lounging it?

I'm sure you didn't realise what was unfolding when you lounged the "fire at North Peckham Estate" thread, perhaps

you could move it back before EDFers start monitoring your monitoring of the general ED issues/gossip.........

A polite suggestion.

But why it was an ED issue so why suggest it should be lounged? North Peckham is a different issue but as the original poster said they were warning people who travelled that way to avoid it .Obviously once the situation unfolded .....

Sorry I am of course referring to the Fire in North Peckham thread !

?????? I'm not suggesting it remain in lounged, but t/f back to ED issues, would

it have been moved if Admin were aware of tragedy that was happening.

This is not me being arsey, as I said a polite suggestion. There are probably a lot of threads that should

be lounged, it seems to be causing unrest on the forum...them n us!

Who will the Admin side with? Forget that and do what's right, it's local enough! Let's not forget what it's really

about and on that note I'll comment no more on the matter.

Original thread"fire at North Peckham Estate"

EXCUSE ME ! but its about 45% SE22 and 55% SE15 and the benches in front of the cafe is SE15 because the cafe is SE15.....

and the Nightstalker does not differentiate so close your windows.

Oh and the run down knackered and flooding childrens 1 o'clock club is SE15.

Clunk ...penny dropping......surely not....surely the council are not that ...oh my god they are ?

    • https://www.assistancedogs.org.uk/information-hub/assistance-dogs-emotional-support-dogs-and-therapy-dogs/   hello   i’d be interested to understand if anyone.has experience of Assistance Dogs especially for autistic children of different ages for emotional support and therapy   There was a prior thread on this topic on EDF 10 hrs ago but it had limited experiences and there was a (claimed) change in UK legislation in 2019. Whilst the industry appears unregulated/unlicensed, there are several providers (approx 15, perhaps more) who claim to have fully trained dogs or say that they can help families to train a puppy/young dog over the 18-24 months.  The latter obviously comes with a need for strong commitment to the challenge. Costs for a fully trained assistance dog are quoted at £13-15k albeit they claim £23k total cost to train the dog. On the one hand, this could potentially be a useful solution for some families if such a dog was truly trained as their websites claim and such a dog was accepted in public places and schools etc… On the other hand, I don’t think that I’ve ever seen an assistance dog of this type or in this context (only for a blind or partially sighted person) and hence a real risk of fraud or exploitation! The SEN challenge for families coupled with limited resources in schools or from local authorities or the NHS as well as the extremely challenging experience of many families with schools offering little or no support or making the situation worse leaves a big risk of lots of different types of fraud and or exploitation in this area.
    • Hi there  We live on Woodwarde Road backing on to Alleyns Top Field.  Our cat Gigi has gone missing — it’s been about 24 hours now. She is a cream Bengal. Could you please check sheds, garages, or anywhere she might have got stuck please? And if you could keep an eye out or share on any local groups/forums, we’d really appreciate it. Photo attached.   Thanks so much! My name is Jeff on 07956 910068.
    • Colin.    One for the old school.   Just saying.
