Vacancy - for a part-time office manager / admin asst

Recommended Posts

I'm a local mum, who runs a small recruitment business ( there's 6 of us) in town - we have a lovely office just based off Charlotte Street. The agency specialises in helping super-talented creatives find jobs in the world of advertising and design. My current office manager / admin asst is going on maternity leave at the end of September and i'm looking for someone to cover her role as a 6 month contract minimum, possibly 12 months depending on how long she takes off for mat leave.

here's the job ad:

The main duties of this role is to ensure all the company operations, the office, the boss and the team run smoothly on a day to day basis. You will work closely with the consultants chasing timesheets, managing placement information and liaising with the finance manager to ensure all invoices are sent out and assist with any credit control issues.

The role is for approx. 2 days a week and can be flexible to suit your work life balance. For example if 4 mornings work better than 2 full days that can work for us as long as the job gets done.

You would ideally have a couple of years? experience in an office / admin environment within an advertising, marketing, recruitment, or creatively-lead company. You will know your Excel from your PowerPoint and have a good dose of common sense when it comes to sorting out basic IT / office issues. Knowledge of how the recruitment industry runs and experience working with a database would be an advantage.

You need to have a good can do attitude, be prepared to get stuck in and be proactive.

If you think this might be for you send over your CV and a covering letter why you would be perfect to work with us to Kat@appleandink.com

    • Hello! We are relocating abroad and so will be withdrawing our two children (ages 4 and 6) from St Dunstan’s College (Catford). If any family is considering enrolling children of a similar age, now would be an excellent opportunity—we’re required to pay full‑term fees unless the places are taken. Please get in touch if you’re interested or know someone who might be. Thank you!

    • Thanks for your reply. I’ve subscribed to Ancestry a few times in the past but felt I wasn’t using it enough to warrant keeping up the subscription.
    • Hi, I saw your post and just wanted to say that the incident you’re referring to did happen in the late 1980s at Dawson’s Heights. The person involved was named Carl Salawa, and he had just turned 18 years old at the time. Like you, I haven’t been able to find any news articles or official reports about it, If anyone remembers anything more about that time or incident, I’d really appreciate hearing about it. Thanks for sharing what you were told—it means a lot to know others remember.
