These plug-in "extenders" emit a huge amount of electro-magnetic interference. When they are plugged into the mains sockets, the house's entire wiring system begins acting as an aeriel which radiates interference beyond the house itself.

This interference is picked up other peoples telephone wires and this affects their ADSL (broadband ) performance.

They are banned in some countries!

Best to avoid.

any wifi IS electromagnetic radiation as are ALL radio waves - the 'extenders ' route the 'internet ' through your mains wire and then bradcast it like any router does.

If anything they are safer as they tend to be less powerful than a router - but u still need a router.

If anyone is worried about electomagnetic radiation dont have wifi in the house. ( or mobile phones )

Romnarz, you have made an assumption that is fallacious ie you assume that the extenders use the same frequency as the wifi. This is not true.

To utilise the live mains cabling, the extenders utilise a frequency in the 1.8MHz to 86MHz range. They do this to minimiase the effect of "noise" which is present on electrical mains supplies.

I suggest you read this article which will explain itbetter than I can.

    • The problem with delivery people nowadays is that they are on such a restrictive schedule that they literally have to just try to deliver and run, otherwise they are penalised. I understand the frustration though.   And good luck making any kind of complaint to Evri. I once sold a laptop on ebay, took it to the Evri pick-up, where it was processed and it then went 'missing' between their pick-up place and the hub. Went through a long, long process where they offered me a desultory amount in compensation and I had to take them to small claims court before they came up with a fair offer the day before we were due to be in court. Long story short, Evri are shite.   Go to look at this forum for the number of people who have issues: https://nationalconsumerservice.co.uk/forum/183-postal-and-delivery-services/
