Today has been a very long day!! Went to the antenatal clinic, I was asked why I didn't want to do the ECV, I explained that I am worried about any problems and it does not feel right. He said there is only a 1% risk with an ECV, that I should not endure a c section if I can have a natural birth and that he feels I can have a natural birth.

He felt my son and said that he is laying transverse, his bottom is not in my pelvis as before and that it would not take much to move him head down. He talked me into it, I agreed. ( maybe all the moxibustion, spinning babies exercises etc freed his bum from my pelvis?!)

Booked my ECV for 2.30pm today, I had not eaten or drank since 10am, my partner came down to keep me company. We were getting tired, stressed and worried. I was getting horrible back pains and pressure on my groin area. My son was moving a bit, but not as much as he normally does. I was so hungry and tired and asked if I could have some water, nope, because I am having an ECV and I have to wait for a free bed.

we didn't get seen for our appointment until 5pm. The consultant came, felt my stomach and said " He has moved head down!!" so out came the scan machine and sure enough my son head is 3/5th in my pelvis now! So happy, after refusing to move in any position but breech and transverse, and having his bum wedged in my pelvis, it was amazing at the 11th hour he moved head down!

so in between seeing the doctor in the morning to the appointment in the afternoon, my son obviously got wind that mummy was starving him and was about to do something that will rock his little world and decided to get his head in position! I am so happy! I was worried because when the consultant was just feeling my pelvis, it bloody hurt so I thought there was no way I could cope with the pain of an ECV but luckily I didnt need one.

They are making me come in every week for a scan to ensure he remains in the head down position, I have been eating pineapple, curry and bouncing on my ball tonight to try and induce labour and get him to stay.

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR WELL WISHES, I AM SURE THEY HELPED!!

Now, just got labour to get through!! xx

Thank you ladies!! The other half was in shock after expecting to have to sit there and watch me and bump undergo a ECV, he was pretty much dumbfounded and asked the consultant a few time if he was sure! Even the midwives came in and congratulated us! I think my little man is a mischief maker rather than a thoughtful little boy!

Now everyone keeps asking me if baby is here yet....I am trying!! I felt quick sick after the curry, pineapple, and bouncing on my swiss ball last night:-S Think I shall just stick to walking everywhere.......

Hi there, I sympathise, I had a c-section when it was discovered my daughter was breech unfortunately they'd already begun inducing me! Anyway, try reflexolgy - i hear it has great results and really can turn the baby without causing you or the baby any distress.

I can recommend Katie Sedgewick in East Dulwich. She specialises in pregnancy and fertility reflexology. You should find her online if not i can dig out her number.

Good luck.

Dear KSTherapy,

Yes, Neals Yard with all of its pretty bottles. I have read a lot about them online over the last few months.

Congratulations HeidiHi, the most natural and safe thing of all will always be to let your body sort it out. Your pelvis is constructed to encourage a baby to exit by the preferred route. We are great at reproducing. If there are concerns and worries about issues such as breech, it is best to to chat with your obstetrician and midwife.

I had acupuncture just before becoming pregnant from a lovely local woman called tracy goulding - [www.essentialtherapia.com] - she works at a practice on crystal palace road and sometimes from home. I can't recommend her highly enough, less expensive than others (e.g. at the vale practice, tho angelo is also very nice) and just generally warm yet professional. If you read about acupuncture generally (just google it and you'll find lots of info and articles) it can be useful for all sorts of things, including turning a breech baby, I assume by the stimulus tho acupuncturist will obviously explain how & why. I think you can only use this as a treatment late on so you should be fine in terms of time. Good luck!

    • A shout out for Mark, owner of Pure Plumbers. 07970 971510 They're well established in the Sevenoaks area, but have recently started doing more work in SE London.  Did some v quick and efficient bathroom and boiler fixes for me; have also seen some of the bathrooms he's built, which have a nice attention to detail. • Totally agree regarding not supporting chains. Gail’s was fine but last time I went in Feb this year, actually walked out Fayetteville looking at menu and waiting 15 minutes to even get glass of water and not busy at all. Staff gone down hill - sooner it goes the better… Always prefer to support non chains - so many lovely places with good food to choose from with pleasant staff who know about customer service and sadly, non English which says a lot for our culture, pubs are also becoming abit of a hit and miss affair but maybe just unlucky. At the end of the day all about the chef. Still abit unclear where new place is located - is it down the road from Goose Green where parade of shops are before Peckham Rye?
    • Surely only where the local businesses offer clear advantages, otherwise you are rewarding what should be failure. I want to be served by a better bakery than Gail's, not a worse but local independent one. Certainly give a local independent some time to get the offer right, but don't buy goods which are worse and or more expensive just because the outlet isn't a chain.
    • Let’s just boycott all chains in favour of local businesses.  Places like Gail’s popping up everywhere has a very damaging impact on small businesses. It’s just the same as the new empanadas place but on a bigger scale. I’ll say it a million times more, we hold the power with our choices. Let’s use our power to look after ourselves and our environment (which includes small local family businesses). And yes, I also love Chacarero.
