Pickle
My son (now 2.5) loves "construction" toys like little tool kits, and basically anything with wheels! His favourite toy from his 2nd birthday was a cheap blue plastic tractor. Certainly in his case from 2 onwards he's become more interested in small toy cars (Matchbox style) rather than larger ones - you can get some great little sets (and his parents will probably thank you if you provide some kind of storage box for them!). Mellors
My boy's fave presents were all cars/construction/trucks. Ride on car, books about trucks, trains, anything that involved a hammer.Or you could drive the parents loopy and get him a drum kit lol. DaveR
I don't know how much you want to spend, but a mini micro scooter is probably an unbeatable present. They say 3-5 years but most 2 year olds will get the hang of it v. quickly, hence the streets of ED being full of parents chasing tiny children scooting unfeasibly fast.
