This is the final, Final Friday of the summer at Aquarius Golf Club, and we're delighted to be presenting an incredible line up of soulful R&B, blues, funk, jazz and latin live music of the highest calibre. Please copy the poster (attached) and share it on your facebook/twitter/pinterest/google+ accounts to help spread the word!

Starting the evening at 8.00 p.m. will be the amazing AXIS, a power-trio of session players who weave a magical set of blues , R&B and tinges of funk & jazz. These guys really know their musical stuff, and play a great set of familiar (and slightly more obscure) tunes from their almost endless repertoire. Often including a few guests (who just love to play with the band), Axis will kick the night off with a roof-raising sound.

Then, headlining for the evening, we have London's finest jazz-funk/latin outfit, Alice in Grooveland, who have recently been topping the official London Jazz charts with their new CD/album, 'Skyline'. They will be playing a selection of original tunes from the album, but also dipping into their catalogue of classic jazz funk & club numbers from the likes of Gap Mangione, the Crusaders, Herbie Hancock, George Duke etc. etc. Featuring accomplished brass section, keyboards, bass and drums, these guys will raise the temperature and fill the air with incredible rhythms and sounds.

Admission for Final Fridays events is (as always) free, and the venue (if you haven't been before) is worth the trip. Sitting atop the Victorian miracle of engineering, the Beachcroft reservoir, with epic views across London, and a sunset to die for. Add to that the rustic and welcoming surroundings of the Aquarius Golf Club bar, which is extremely well priced, and a great acoustic space for live music, and you have a night out that is hard to beat.

The event will come to a close at 11.00 p.m. (or so.)

As one of the many, many visitors to the Aquarius Golf Club said at last month's annual music Festival, "It's absolutely criminal that even more people don't come to these music events".

So there's the choice. Be there for a great free night out of live music. Or be a criminal.

You will find Aquarius Golf Club through a gate (that will be tied open) at the end of Marmora Road, SE22 0RY. Nearest station Honor Oak Park. Nearest bus routes, 63, 363, P4, P12.

    • I totally agree it just seems that it a thing nowadays.  It must be due to how fireworks are sold.
    • Well worth a read   https://manchestermill.co.uk/the-men-who-raised-the-flags/
    • If it was limited to a couple of days a year, so we all knew, that would be fine. In the last few years (and it is a recent thing) you get random fireworks going off any time after dusk for half the year. It does more than cause problems for pets and wildlife- it can mean lasting damage and massive expense and hassle for pet owners. All because some get a buzz out of loud bangs.
    • Ohh dear.  Fireworks can be great fun.  Where I used to live the kids would have firework wars/games.  Watching them was more enjoyable than watching  TV. (Which you could hardly hear due to the pops and bangs).  It's not like anyone/anything could stop them. I would still prefer organised public displays that are affordable.   And I agree that fireworks cause problems for wild life, pets and people.   It seems to be one of those things that just happens so we have to put up with it.  But it is still not as problematic here as in other areas in London - that's for sure.
