I'm looking for an experienced tree surgeon to prune two gleditsia trees which are becoming too big for our garden. Any recommendations gratefully received.

Pol, any chance you have a connection to the people you just recommended? Your posting history is largely made up of recommendations for several different gardening and tree surgeon companies but they all have the same telephone number.

To the OP - Hamish gets a lot of recommendations on here http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1557299,1568044#msg-1568044 He did the major tree pruning in our neighbour's garden a few years ago which backs onto ours and I know they were very happy with his work.
