Hi Serenity,

I have been made serene by your apology. Thank you. I would have replied earlier but have been sans forum for a few days so only heard of your new post late last night.

I was a rather upset by your post so your apology is most welcome. It's the first time I've been bitten in here, quite a chastening experience

For my own part in this mini-saga I must own up to being too blunt for my own good on occasion and was most definitely so in this case. I visited the FHT hungover, tired and for the fist time in over a year, with just my partner having dispatched the kids to nanny. My impression of the FHT suffered because of these factors and I could have been more tactful about what I said. I do agree, it's good to support new ventures, Good luck to you Kevin!

So, apologies all round. Will be happy to share some beers with you in FHT sometime soon Serenity. We could also have a slice or two of humble pie - if Kevin serves it.

AP

I stopped in there after work this evening and had a lovely couple of beers in the garden. yes, it did used to be a car park and you can see the garage doors but come on .... we were outdoors on a lovely evening and the mood was good. Can't ask for more

Dear AP,

Thanks for accepting my apology. There is definately no neeed for humble pie (I think its around ?8 anyway!). Moreover, I promise not to bite in the future!

Hi Kevin! Nice to have you on board.

By the way, does anyone know when the new Italian is opening?

    • The Herne Hill Forum is raising money to replace the much-loved but decrepit wooden children’s trains outside Herne Hill station. The new train benches will be made of stainless steel with seasoned oak slats to sit on. The design is based on the Lord Nelson Class engines which passed through Herne Hill Station between 1926 and 1962 and the Pullman carriages in service at the same time. The trains will be painted green, the livery colour for Southern Railway in the 20s and 30s. Youngsters peering inside the carriages will glimpse some unexpected passengers: penguins commuting to work, an owl in a flap, a ghost on its way to Halloween, a fox and his friends, a heron migrating back to the hill and a bear checking tickets have all been smuggled on board. The carriages themselves will be clad with painted wooden boards for local artists and school children to repaint when necessary. The quality of the materials and the design should ensure the trains’ longevity but also come at a price. To cover the costs, the Forum has launched a crowd funding campaign and if all goes well, the new train benches should be installed by the spring.  Back the project here: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/herne-hill-train-benches (Admin, we know this is not ED but we didn't feel it was right for the Lounge so have put it here, given many ED-ers use Herne Hill. Apologies if it's in the wrong place!)
