Hello there,

I mainly signed up for in order to find a babysitter, but now that I am here thought it can't hurt to post another message also in the discussion room. I, 29, and my daughter, 8, just moved to Dulwich after having lived in Berlin and Boston these past years.

The school registration has been a surprisingly slow process and even though sooner or later she'll surely make friends, I was wondering if anyone else has a 7+ year old at home who would be interested in a new play-mate, basically as of right now; my daughter is pretty bored just hanging out with adults for weeks :)

We also don't know the area very well yet, so we would be happy to read some older-kid-friendly recommendations for what to do around here, especially tomorrow.

Thank you,

Doreen

Hello, there is Dulwich Park and Peckham Rye park and a park opposite Hornimans Museaum, there is another park on the road that is opposite The Dulwich Wood House pub on Sydenham Hill. Crystal Palace Park.

You could ask her who she plays with at school and plan an afternoon tea say on a fri if its possible.

Join the PTA at the school and you would get to know some of the parents (it's an opening for both of you).

Good luck

    • The current crimes from what I hear are phone theft from the person, car theft and tradesman vehicle/tools theft. Plus of course the overall increase in stabbings and shootings across London which are becoming normalised.
    • Whilst clearly 'a crime', I don't think this necessarily sits with the other things you have described. A tragic and awful incident certainly, and dreadfully traumatic to the victim, but not part of any 'crime wave' as such, I suspect. It's the sort of thing which, sadly, can happen anywhere (I, again, suspect).
    • Does anybody have a folding pasting table they no longer need? All the ones I've found online seem to have terrible reviews, mainly due to being unstable,  or else coming apart! I don't mind if it's grubby, I just want it to gesso wallpaper lining paper, for art not walls!
    • Massive thank you to Stephen. Painted our whole house - and got lots of other bits sorted, too. Nothing was too much trouble, everything looks great and all came in on quote. Fantastic. Liverpool fan, but don’t hold that against him. Will 100% use again.
